ARTISTS’ BIOGRAPHY

Maximilian (left) and Retgür (right) are twin brothers born and raised in El Paso, Texas. They are a team of artists sharing the same artistic ideology and formed the BardouchéArt Workshop. From an early age they acknowledged the visual perception of reality around them as something worthy of study. Fascinated by the realism and depth of the world they have striven to capture the complexion of colors, shadows, and forms in their own art.

By the age of 14 Maximilian’s inspiration and ambition to follow the artists of the Renaissance was realized and was followed shortly after by his brother Retgur. The two brothers decided to focus solely on their art full-time, painting extensively in oil. By studying the masterpieces of the past, the BardouchéArt Workshop learned beautiful form and established proper understanding of good art; carefully building up the paint layers to create depth and realism within their works. Such traditional methods include preparatory sketches, an underpainting; an overpainting; delicate and precise development of the layers; and finishing applications of glazing and scumbling.

ARTISTS’ STATEMENT

The human form is at the center of our work and we believe it will never be surpassed as the most interesting and beautiful subject depicted in visual art. The idealized human figure was well understood by past artists such as Praxiteles, Michelangelo, and Canova, who were masters of human anatomy. We aspire to produce beautiful works of art that make the classic thought relevant in our current time, bridging the understanding of the past with the present.
